Moving from monolithic to modular applications with the Java Module System

Modularity in software development is not only a trendy concept nowadays but rather a development principle. No matter what technology we are using, modularity is a universal concept and will always be a priority in the development process. A modular application serves the Separation of Concerns principle which helps us to maintain easier our codebase, anticipate security issues and speed up teamwork through module isolation.

In this presentation our goal is to introduce you to modular development by example, so no boring theories, just coding. We will try to refactor a trivial monolithic application to a modular implementation using Java and its module system. Practices and techniques like exposed interfaces and hidden internal implementations are things we will discuss among other concepts like encapsulation, module isolation, and services.
